I got the filter for the humidifier I also just bought. Upon placing the filter in and turning the unit on, a strong odor filled the room. I had to open the windows to air the room out because I didn't think inhaling the smell was a good idea. Being that it was for my bird's room, I feel sure that it would result in him getting sick or worse. I believe the problem lies in the Protec antimicrobial treatment.
