Like others said....this is great for a kids room, but we also used it for ours as well.The low setting really isn't that loud, and the high setting is a great 'white noise' maker for kiddos (or hubbies that are used to the sound of a fan during summer months ;p).
And while this may not be the greatest humidifier ever, it is kind of a 'get what you pay for' scnerio.
Ie for us, at least, it was money well spent.
